Updates

Greetings parents!

After over a month of weird weather, we can only hope that this coming week returns to normal. We have so much to catch up on and we are going to be moving rather quickly.  I arrive at school by 7:30 am. If you would like your child to come in and have some one-on-one time or catch up on non-finished work, I will be available. Please remember to have them work on MobyMax for extra help or if they finish their homework early.

Classroom Updates:

1. We are starting to practice with EOG prep materials. Please talk to your child about the importance of these tests. We are going over strategies and emphasizing on all the skills that we have covered this year. I would ask that unless it is absolutely necessary, please have your child here at school everyday. Try to schedule appointments after school, if at all possible. I cannot stress the importance of having your child here at school. Everyday counts in terms of going over our 3rd grade Language Arts Curriculum.

2. I still have my Donors Choose website up. If you know anyone who would like to donate, please pass the information along. These chairs would be such a great tool for all the children to use in class. It keeps them moving even when they are sitting down. I have shown my classes the chairs and they ALL would like to have them in our classroom. I really appreciate any and all support in this endeavor.

3. If you would like to come in and help out in the classroom, please know that I have an open door policy. However, please let me know the day before so I can have materials for you to work on while you are in my classroom. Also, Wednesdays are center days, so if you would like to work with my students that would be an ideal day to visit.

4. Please speak with your child about the importance of writing their names on their homework. This should be the first thing they do before they begin. I have an average of about 15 homework packets with no names every week. This takes time out of my classroom instruction to figure out who it belongs to.

I hope you have a great week.

Happy Reading,

Mrs. Atkisson
